Fashion Lovers Catch iPad Fever

By fashionstake · July 6, 2010 · 0 Comments ·
Once upon a time Apple products were only seen in the hands of tech geeks. Now, however, Mac computers and gadgets are leading the way in technology and everyone from soccer moms, to Web nerds, to fashionistas appreciate the fruity company for it's consistently functional, yet cutting edge products. Apple's latest craze, the iPad, made a splashy yet shaky entrance into the market, with some wondering how useful an oversized iPod touch would be. After only a few months on the market, it looks like fashion industry is well on board.

The leaders of the fashion pack were, as to be expected, e-commerce sites like Gilt Groupe and Gap that were eager to give shoppers yet another way to purchase their inventory. Stepping gingerly behind the retail market, the print industry has slowly embraced what they must know to be the inevitable dominance of e-readers. Fashion staple Vogue recently launched and app specifically for the iPad, which will cater to subscribers of the glossy and have daily updated content as well. Continue...

Grunge. Double-breasted blazers. Bodysuits. In so many ways fashion is having a '90s moment. Resort 2011 Trend: Lightweight Trench

By fashionstake · June 17, 2010 · 0 Comments ·

As the pool of designer labels that produce collections for the Resort season grows, the definition of what exactly belongs in the season seems to get looser. Also called Cruise, the season is traditionally dedicated to creating clothing for people who have the luxury of spending the post holiday months on vacation. Swimsuits and flowy things are common fare, but modern collections also increasingly include the gamut of what a woman might want to wear - whether on a yacht, at a formal dinner, or hanging out in the city. For Resort 2011 the default jacket has been a lightweight trench coat. As a nod to the warm temperatures and sunny skies that most resorts should offer, the coats often have cropped sleeves, bright colors, or flimsy fabric. Above: Carolina Herrera
